Delays, Delays, Delays

School is out for some, and others are whithering away at jobs during the 9-5 hours. But, somehow, Joey P is unable to finish billy's website. Distractions? I think not. I think it more has to do with his lazy nature and the arrival of summertime in the dreadful city of Boston. As a result, this blog will now become the official site of Katomusic. Email either of us for orders, and loverly comments, and good time fun.

Here's a sample from my new project for Vir.us, THE MIDI LEGENDS!!!

My feeble attempts are fantastically futile...

In an attempt to finish sewing covers, I didn't' even begin. I collected all supplies, painted canvass, scissors, CD sleeves, needles, pliers...wait there is one more thing.....STRING!

Ms. Emily is sewing CD covers!
But where is the string?
Bibbles has eaten it allllll up!

This is only speculation, but upon a thorough cleaning of the bedroom, none but a piece of string has turned up, and thus the completion of this ever-delayed project is once again out on hold. The good news is that I finally at least have the motivation to finish this weekend, and get them all in a nice box, and take a beautiful picture of our completed project. Its been a long time coming, and I feel the end is near.

In other news (I haven't told Billy this yet) last night my roommate Joey had friends from NZ over, and I received a request of a shipment halfway around the world! I was told that the album reminded someone of the Life Aquatic Soundtrack and was perfect for playing backgammon and going clubbing in Christchurch. Hooray! Yippe! Yahoooooo!

That is all for now, more to come when the covers are complete and I am relaxing in a satisfied sweet bliss...

beandang diddly wang

Man I can't wait to graduate. I never want to think about school again... Except for my multimedia class of course... Ah I should shut up. I'm just irritated that me and Em are not done making the custom CD's. And that the website hasn't even been started. Or maybe it is that school is driving me insane. dang diddly.

Alright, as I am sick of talking about my problems, I'm going to talk about some music I've been listening to lately.

The Sea and Cake: Everybody (2007 unreleased)
---Homepage
I got this earlier this afternoon and have listened to it once in the background. I know I haven't gave it a chance or let it grow on me. But it's just missing something. That flare 2000's 'Oui' had. I feel like they got a new guitarist or drummer, or maybe one of their songwriters had a breakthrough and suddenly became an evangelical Christian of some sorts. Something sounds off! Anyway I'm going to listen to it a lot more because I respect Sam and his band and they deserve 8 to 12 more listenings.

Sonic the Hedgehog 2 Soundtrack (1992)
---Wiki
Swell game, but the music is not as good as I remember it. Emerald Hill's slap bass playing will never surpass the jam layed down in Green Hill Zone in the original game. Never. The multiplayer music is the most memorable of the bunch. However, none of it is the same without random slowdowns and the sound of scattering golden rings.
I've been into old SNES and Sega music these last few days. I also got Secret of Mana, Mario paint, and every Zelda soundtrack.

Daedelus: Of Snowdonia (2004)

--- Ninjatune
Boy do I like Daedelus. This guys got his hands on the coolest sounding source material and just melds into the most inventive musical shapes. This isn't his newest stuff but it may be some of his finest. Or I may be that I forgot I had this album and havn't listened to it in a while.

Maybe I'll make this a habit. I enjoy talking and bitching about music.

Staring at anything, however partial to walls.

I handed off the finished, finished copy to my father today. I have a feeling his pride is going to spill out in the form of him making 500 professional copies of it without telling me. I hope not... I still have 250 copies of my 1st CD lying around. I have a larger portion of faith in this sophomore effort however. Everything was so rushed for my first CD... never again.

Speaking of the folks, they were up from home today, good old Kingston. They brought a plethora of groceries with them, a utilities check (sigh), and an extremely large appetite. It's such a strange and comforting feeling to have food in the house.

Now for a humbling image of my wise feline, Bibbles.

Back to the topic at hand, KATOMUSIC!!!! I am still working on the website with Joey P. It's going slow. He's still installing Gentoo onto the server we built and hasn't even started on the website. Oy! Once that site goes live, its marketing mode for Billy. I just can't seem to start until that happens. No one takes a Myspace or blog very seriously. Especially when I am the only one that reads it...

Oh well! Who gives a fuck! My album is done and I have a full fridge. Life is currently acceptable.
I will be uploading my album to the Internet archive for people to download it before the website goes up. So that means me and my girlfriend will have it. Horray for us!

Hungry Animal Noises/CD pricing/Website

So I've decided the price to put on the CD or at least some guidelines. Each CD must be sold for at least $3 and at most $1250. I'm looking to cover my losses on the production of the snazzy cases I have made for the LP (I will post a picture later). The MP3's for the album will be posted unto my website for free for exactly 6 months. After of which they will be cheaply priced and free to listen to on the interweb. Oh and everyone should donate money, gifts, and vacations so I can pretend my music is important and so I can pay my 6 digit loans off. So I guess forget the vacations and gifts, just money, I don't want to ever pay any taxes. Ever.

Also, my friend Joseph P and I have created our web server out of spare parts and are currently installing some Linux distro onto the machine. Now, I am hoping that my website appears within the next few weeks. At least something that partially functions. I really want to start promoting myself but I don't feel like Myspace is the way to go. It has just lost that appeal, if it ever had any (in the area of music). I also just despise Myspace.

Ohh, this morning Bibbles was making loud stomach growls and was rubbing his head on the toilet in a feeble attempt to get my attention so I would feed him. Hahaa animals...

Hmmmm... The album is done. Well, almost. Kinda.

I just have to get Emile to go into the kitchen to slave away at the beautiful canvas covers we've designed. The album is called 'Man Turns Nature Against the Machine' and should be released to the general public as soon as my website is partially operational.
I perhaps will release it tonight on indietorrents.com and see how it goes over. There's not an ounce of hype, but I never really asked for any.

To listen to a few tracks you'll have to go to my... my ughh... my myspace page...
--

Or you can just go to katomusic.net and stare at the somewhat blank page. Not for long I say!!

Here's the tracklisting and cover for my upcoming album.

  1. Manifestation
  2. The Young, The Lost, the dead, they all come here
  3. Infinite, Like Space
  4. Misplaced Chemistry
  5. Impatient Demise of our Conscious Sphere Pt. 1 & 2
  6. Retro Degradation
  7. I'm Distracted
  8. The Ego
  9. The Cat Called Nowhere
  10. Machine Conquers All
  11. My Fellow Creature
  12. The Larry Finer Memorial Problem
  13. This Moral Generation

This project has dragged on far too long. It is time to alarm the general public of the exisitance of this Katomusic and disperse free MP3's to the masses!

More to come soon...
